Unisys Launches Center for Government Innovation to Connect Experts and Deliver Insights and Trends around IT Innovation in Government

Slate of Center Fellows Includes Internationally Renowned Defense, Security and National Intelligence Experts

BLUE BELL, Pa., March 16, 2009 – Unisys (NYSE: UIS) today announced the creation of the Unisys Center for Government Innovation, a new global forum for leaders from government and the IT industry.

The center will provide a forum for government leaders and IT professionals to share ideas and experiences, learn about best practices in technology innovation and engage in dialogue on key issues surrounding the business and operation of government today and in the future. Although initially focused primarily on issues related to the U.S. federal, state and local government, Unisys expects the center to ultimately address issues crossing the boundaries of regional and national governments.

The Center for Government Innovation will serve as a think tank, as well as a catalyst and vehicle for research programs, white papers, webinars and executive roundtables focused on compelling, current public sector management and technology issues. The center’s inaugural white paper focuses on identifying and exploring the issues that will define the “Government of the Future,” especially critical issues for the U.S. federal government such as the shift of talent in the workforce, the pervasiveness of security concerns and the changing political landscape. This paper, as well as other thought pieces, research reports, and commentary on trends and issues, can be found at the center’s website: www.govtinnovation.com.

In addition, the center will sponsor and conduct primary research in the areas of green computing, cybersecurity, physical security, secure information sharing, health IT, law enforcement and justice, enabling transparency in government, energy management, cloud computing and other emerging issues.

“For more than a century, Unisys has worked with governments to drive efficiency, effectiveness and productivity – helping them to address complex challenges through technological innovation, forward-thinking approaches and industry best-practices,” said Ted Davies, president, Unisys Federal Systems. “The Center for Government Innovation seeks to extend this commitment by leveraging primary research, industry forums, online programs and Web 2.0 capabilities to provide public sector and IT leaders with new tools and solutions to their most challenging issues.”

Leadership Team

To guide the center in its many initiatives, Unisys has created a board of fellows that includes leading authorities on defense, IT security in the public sector, financial administration and national intelligence. The fellows will direct and conduct research, offer insight, and provide guidance on approaches for tackling the critical challenges facing today’s public sector organizations. The center’s research will also be available via Facebook, with a focus on driving collaboration and discussion between fellows, members and others in the government IT community. The fellows include:

  • William M. Bristow II
Former Chief Information Officer, U.S. Forest Service and Food and Drug Administration
